The Minister of Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Megantic-L’Erable has awared $900,000 in Canadian government grants to Viandes Laroche. This government loan comes through the Business and Regional Growth program and Community Adjustment Fund.
Viandes Laroche processes and sells choice beef, pork, poultry, veal and delicatessen products. Their products include Viandes Selectionnees des Cantons certified meats. These are hormone- and antibiotic-free. They are a pioneer for their implementation of a system that assures quality. Viandes Laroche needed a larger facility to house it ’s operations. This project is expected to pump more than $11 million into the town.
This development loan has been warmly received by the community and people there are well aware of the implications for the town when it comes to these Canadian government grants.
“We are firmly committed to maintaining our support of Canadian businesses and to creating the kind of conditions that are essential to solid long-term economic growth,” a Canadian government official added.
