Taxpayers group questions industry loans policy

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has taken it upon themselves to point out that some groups are more responsible at paying back loans and grants from the Canadian government than others, and in the end no one is surprised that students and charitable groups are more reliable than corporations and big companies. The group also goes on to say that most provincial governments including the New Brunswick government should reassess how these loans and grants are handed out so that the money may be of most use. The concerns rose up after it was uncovered that the province's total of unrecoverable loans has mushroomed from $300 million to $700 million in the past nine years. A study goes on to say that the province probably will not be able to collect the majority of loans handed out to certain industries in farm related businesses and that roughly 20% will default.
