Government grants a boon for students

There is hope for students that come from low income backgrounds in the shape of Canadian government grants that are geared toward students. These are the same types of incentives as the business grants that are awarded to small businesses as an incentive to help the economy grow. The president at the Students' Administrative Council (SAC) at Georgian College's Orillia campus has noticed the changes to the amount of available grants that are being offered to students. "Daily, the job market is becoming more competitive and without post-secondary education, career opportunities become very limited," said that on-campus official. As well as the Canadian government grants, there is a federal program that helps students by encouraging them to save for a post secondary education. This incentive encourages students to start a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). An RESP is designed specifically for post-secondary education. It is registered by the federal government and allows savings to grow tax-free.
