Ottawa puts credit card industry on notice

Ottawa is proposing legislation that will give it more power over the kind of money that credit card industries charge and at least one coalition of small business owners is calling it a victory for that essential segment of the economy. Beyond the help that small business gets in the form of financial assistance, the coalition of small business is welcoming the finance ministers knew initiative. However not everyone is as pleased as the Retail Council of Canada. Other groups are pointing out that even the proposal doesn't go far enough to help small business.  While the business grants that are available through the government ares still considered one of the mainstays, the new moves don't completely impress other business leaders like  the Canadian Federation of Independent Business who wonder how the new codes will be enforced. They are generally in favor of the government initiative however.
